Data Acquisition

If you are like most people interested in Mango you have sensors, controllers, PLC’s, and other equipment you want to monitor and control. Being able to easily gather and control your data variables is a key feature of Mango.

To make your life easy Mango has many built in protocols and numerous ways to get your critical data in and out. Mango can simultaneously connect to devices using multiple protocols and convert data from one protocol into another.

Read our Wiki article about adding new Data Sources.

Data Publishing

Often it is not enough to get external sensors and devices connected into one central system, you need to be able to share this data with other systems. Mango Publisher add powerful and dynamic methods of exposing data to the world. Any data, no mater the protocol, can be published on any of the publisher protocols. For example you could read a Modbus Serial device and expose it as a BACnet IP device to an external Building Automation System.

Publishers essensially turn Mango into a slave device. Some publishers allow Mango to push data as well. The Mango Persistent TCP Publisher and Data Source allow high speed syncing of data between multiple instances of Mango.

Modbus

One of the most popular protocols across many industries, Modbus’ popularity continues to grow. Modbus is an older protocol but due to its simplicity and wide range of supported products Modbus is more popular than ever.

Mango has a very powerful Modbus driver for communications with both IP based modbus devices and serial based Modbus devices. Mango can also be a Modbus IP slave and translate any of its other protocols into Modbus IP.

Mango also offers easy to use test tools and the ability to dump raw modbus traffic to text files for analysis.Learn More about Modbus

BACnet

BACnet protocol has successfully taken the Building Automation industry by storm and now dominates the BMS world with a huge selection of controllers, software and equipment that supports the open BACnet protocols.

With Mango’s powerful BACnet data source it’s easy to make mango a key part of your building automation system. You can easily discover and add BACnet devices. Mango can simultaneously act as a BACnet slave and expose any of its data as discoverable BACnet objects.Learn More about BACnet

SNMP

SNMP in the Data Center world is still widely used among equipment like UPS, CRAC units, and other common equipment found in your data center. Mango’s SNMP Data Source can easily be used to bring all this equipment into your Mango system. Learn More about SNMP

DNP3

DNP3 is a popular protocol used in power distribution, power metering, and electrical grids. Users in these industries can leverage Mangos DNP3 Data Source to easily bring in high speed data.

Allen Bradley

You can read and write tags in ControlLogix PLCs and other Ethernet/IP enabled equipment. Learn More about Allen Bradley

HTTP

HTTP is a universal protocol and Mango can accept HTTP posts or post data via HTTP to another system. With Mango’s HTTP Retriever data source you can scrape values off of websites, parge data from XML or request, and receive data over an HTTP connection.Learn More about HTTP

SQL

The SQL data source allows mango to pull in values from any SQL database with a JDBC driver such as MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, and others. Mango can also insert data using complex insert and update statements into any SQL database connected. See our example of custom applications built using the SQL data source. Learn more about the SQL Data Source

Z-Wave

Allows you to read and write values from Z-Wave enabled wireless devices.Learn More about Z-Wave

Serial

You can mold the Serial Data Source to any generic or custom serial protocol, parse data out of serial streams, or send request and commands over serial lines. Learn More about Serial Data Source

TCP/IP

The TCP/IP data source communicates over a socket and parses the responses into meaningful data. Learn More about TCP/IP

SSH

The SSH Data Source allows you to issue SSH commands and parse responses back into data points. You can also set values of Learn More about SSH Data Source

Data File Importer

The Data File Data Source can be scheduled to check a local directory for files and either add the parsed points to itself as Mango data points or uses it to map the files identifiers to other points within Mango. The data source is ready to accept XML, CSV, and Excel documents after creating a custom import class that matches your files data structure Learn More about Data File Importer

Ascii File Reader

This data source reads a file as an ASCII character stream on a line by line basis.Learn More about Ascii File Reader

VMStats

Read Server performance data from a Linux Operating System. Learn More abotu VMStats

Virtual Data

The virtual data source allows you to create data points that are not tied to any device, they only exsist inside Mango. You can use virtual data points to create random data, counters, or use them to hold values that you manually set. They are very useful for both test systems and production systems. Learn More about Virtual Data Sources

Meta Data Source

With Meta Data Points you can use scripts to create new data points based on data from existing data points. This might mean summing several energy meters together to get a total or doing a daily energy calculation. Meta Data Scripts are extremely powerful and have endless possibilities. Learn More about Meta Data Points

Scripting Data Source

Scripting data sources are similar to meta data points but can be used to change values and control other points within the system. Any data point within Mango can be used as an input or an output within a script, making for a very flexible control and automation system. Learn More about Scripting Data Sources

Other Special Data Source Types

Mango Persistent TCP

This data source is used to collect data sent from persistent TCP publishers on other Mango instances. One instance of Mango can receive data from thousands of external Mango publishers, both real-time and historical syncing can be accomplished very efficiently. Data Points are automatically created on the data source greatly reducing your configuration time.Learn More about Persistent TCP
